What I do at NB: Makes Drawer Organizers on the laser cutter.
 
Scope/Purpose of this document:
The sponsor or organizer should read this prior to events
Sponsor should take into account whether any attendees or audience are attending NB for the first time and are completely unfamiliar with our space and expectations
Can be distributed to attendees prior to the meeting or at the meeting, as needed
Can be published as a page on the NB wiki, posted in the space, and/or linked to in a Meetup Event page
 
Document Notes:
Note that events hosted at NB may have their own code-of-conduct so long as it does not conflict with NB's community standards or policies
 
Considerations:
I considered adding a bullet point at the end asking them to cleanup afterwards, but this is a safety briefing, so I will skip it
 
Noisebridge Pre-Event Safety Briefing
Items in RED should be pointed out by the event sponsor or organizer
 
Welcome to Noisebridge, San Francisco’s longest running egalitarian hackerspace. We are concerned about your safety, so please listen-up.  This is important.
 
Fire Exits:
Back of the space on the first floor
 
Bathrooms:
One bathroom on each floor at the back of the space by the rear staircase
 
Accessibility:
No elevator, but please speak to the event organizer and we will do our best to accommodate you
 
Radically Open Door Policy:
We provide access to all members of the community, and for a broad range of activities
We are not able to screen every individual who enters Noisebridge
Keep your eyes and ears open. Report any incident right away
 
Personal Safety:
Zero tolerance for anyone who threatens the peaceful enjoyment of Noisebridge
We have a strict anti-harassment policy and expect everyone to be treated excellently at all times
If anyone makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, report it right away
 
How to Report an Incident:
Directly:
Ask the individual to leave. Anyone can ask anyone to leave. The request should be respected.
Indirectly:
Tell the event organizer or NB event sponsor
Anonymously:
Use the SafeSpace reporting bot accessed through QR codes on the yellow signs
 
Be Excellent
It falls on everyone to make and keep Noisebridge an excellent place. Please do your part.
