The woodshop is great - so many people come to use this incredible resource but it was noisy and caused dust which made the rest of the downstairs space less usable.

Earlier this year (before the permitting issue arose) we decided to invest some of our savings to build a wall with proper ventilation/filtration/sound isolation.
We likely would not have started this project if we could have anticipated the permitting expenses... 😓

Noisebridge will never turn people away for lack of funds. Because of this we ask for folks who want to see this social experiment continue support us in whatever way they can.

tl;dr: Up until recently Noisebridge has been largely self-sustaining with membership fees offsetting our monthly expenses. Unfortunately earlier this year we got hit with a number of back-to-back one-time expenses which have significantly drained our reserves to ~3 months of runway. This combined with a recent downturn in membership (recent economic downturn, reliance on word-of-mouth for people to find us, woodshop closure, etc) has put us in a precarious situation.

Recent Expenses

Total ~$50k (can we itemizes this a bit for transparency?)

Note: Please help me fill in these sections. 🙏

Permitting/Zoning/Code Investments

short-summary of _some_ the hoops we've jumped through to make sure everything is up to code and all the paperwork for the property is correctly filed with the city.

Woodshop Improvements

The woodshop is great - so many people come to use this incredible resource but it was noisy and caused dust which made the rest of the downstairs space less usable.

Earlier this year (before the permitting issue arose) we decided to invest some of our savings to build a wall with proper ventilation/filtration/sound isolation.

We likely would not have started this project if we could have anticipated the permitting expenses... 😓

ADA Upgrades

Our door is finally ADA compliant!!! We are still a capital-drive/grant away from installing an elevator/chair lift as previously envisioned but the new door/entrance system is fantastic. Thank you all who worked on making this happen & raising the funds for this effort. Most excellent
