Hay crazy guys. I'm David aka Forest. No one could call me a computer geek. In fact I think evil spirits inhabit all tech stuff, and they know whenever I'm within three feet of them, and they automatically begin to malfunction.

But I've been hackin other stuff since I was a kid.Like ripping GI Joe's arm off and replacing it with a barbie leg. But seriously, the crazed, creative, dysfunctional atmosphere of NB is what brings me here. Tho I'm a technological pre-hominid, if you wanna learn a little about the relationship between we and our world and how it is affected by this latest burst of communication tech, NM is past cutting edge, its like somewhere way past the edge, to another place entirely, like a universe that has no edges at all.

Interests, projects. I've been hacking gardens since a kid, putting together community gardens and hang out spaces, mashing art spaces/gardens/community spaces into abandoned lots. Most of the projects I was bottom lioning involved using recycled stuff like urbanite (broken chunks of sidewalk) and composted stuff. Our construction materials were mostly used stuff scavenged from the street.

Currently I'm working on a novel, and love to come here and hang out and write/draw. My plan is to hand make the books, using grocery bags as the paper, done in a style similar to the medieval Illuminations texts of Europe, the kind with the gothic lettering and lots of cool pics of Jesus and his blood. And demons and Satan and the fires of eternal perdition. Everything will be hand made, including the script, as it was pre press. Yea, Luddite rules. I see NB as the model of what could happen in our culture in the future. Consensus, as trying as it is sometimes, is a great way to create and maintain community. Only problem is, we were raised in a society that favors the individual above the group, competition over co-operation, and it takes a good while for folks to relearn and different way of being with each other. I'm hoping NB won't abandon consensus, but maybe re examine the model being used, and perhaps bringing in folks with exp in this process, such as the Quakers. My contribution. Kitchen, I wash all dishes and clean it up at least once a week when I'm hanging here on a regular basis. Other basic stuff like taking out the trash, keeping an eye on new folks, and most especially, making sure the lizard has water. I also bring a lot of curiosity and ask questions that make the techies roll their eyes into the back of their heads.
