I like to greet new users to induct them into wiki culture! It's good to maximize the value they get out of the wiki, and help them contribute back in ways that scale & help the wiki & community flourish. KP: Thrive

Process

1. Invite or approve users:

2. (Assess readiness &) Grant permissions. Ensure users have confirmed permission (if they don't automatically have autoconfirmed -- the permissions are equivalent). This encompass all the permissions necessary to do create pages, create talk pages, and make edits to events. |add links

3. Add #Welcome statement to new user's talk page, encourage them to make a user page, for personality & connecting online/offline. (Maybe a category addition would help, a link to follow, gentle introduction to categories. Categ:NewUser Categ:NewTalk, Categ:NewBridger)

4. Later follow-up (days/weeks/months): in-person, online chat, email/discourse, or via others; ensure they're comfortable with it, know who they can talk to,

Welcome statement

Current (not sure where the template for it is)

Welcome to Noisebridge! We hope you will contribute much and well. You might want to read the [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Contents help pages]. Make a user page so people know a bit about you & connect your username with your IRL persona. Again, welcome and have fun! -- ~~~~
