Noisebridge is a space of many individuals, many groups, with much overlap, but also completely disjoint users who never occupy the same space at the same time. Many of the generic rules and guidelines focus on guiding mutually anonymous strangers to coordinate and share use of the space, use of resources, and engage with the community in compatible ways.

Mind-share, Eye-share

[edit | edit source]

First and foremost, noisebridge is a place, where people meet and use tools, in-person. Communication for the space, should have clear elements or indicators at the space, visible to people in the space.

Communications only sent online, are not a valid way to broadcast to a community, which includes people who don't have a phone, don't like to use computers, or don't like to use computers to open their minds to clever, sometimes disagreeable hackers.

Make signs in the space.

Hello, just saying hello and agreeing that both digital and physical signage seem needed for decent communication @ NB. -Kmprsr

Maw of Noisebridge

[edit | edit source]

Projects are abandoned at noisebridge. It's very common, there are a lot of them.

If you would like to coordinate with the great mass of people who anonymously cooperate to keep the space usable for everyone, then distinguish yourself clearly from people who, by accident, plan, distraction, or disappearance, also leave projects in the space, anonymously, for unbounded lengths of time. If you're aware of this pattern, you're aware enough to ensure that someone visiting a weekly meeting can advocate for your project as well.
