The kids, Diaze, Mota, and Tawnse (aliases), and I are regularly in the space. I'm starting on my second semester of teaching a class on Pico-W/Python programming for kids, (but students of all ages can join in.)

We also work on a ham radio known as Project TouCans in the space. So far it's a Morse code only (CW) single frequency radio that is housed in its antenna.

The Project TouCans avatar, a toucan crossed with the github octocat.

Radios housed in dipole antennas are a bit of a rarity, but it keeps us from losing power in the feedline and from having to worry about feedline impedance mismatch. The radio is attached directly to a resonant antenna. We control the rig from the ground via WiFi using Python. For th moment that means we're sending up characters to a Python coded Morse keyer that lives in a Pico-W (and was one of the lessons in the class metioned above.)
